Foreign Service Institute Distance Learning Mentor Services
Global Language Strategies holds a prime contract to provide Distance Learning Mentors in approximately 70 languages to the U.S. DoS FSI in Washington, DC. These mentors conduct foreign language learning sessions with diplomats and their families located at various posts around the world. The role of the Mentor in the Distance Learning course is to guide the student’s independent study of materials in the foreign language and continually monitor their progress.
U.S. Embassy Translation and Interpretation Services
Provided support to prime contractor who supplied more than 188 Arabic, Kurdish and Pashto translators and interpreters to U.S. Embassies in Iraq, Jordan and Afghanistan. These linguists provided simultaneous, consecutive and conference interpretation to high-level officials visiting Iraq, including Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretaries of State and top military officials. All linguists were cleared at the Secret and Top Secret levels and passed the most stringent language tests administered by the Department of State’s Office of Language Services.
Department of Defense
Joint Task Force, Guantanamo Bay
Provides contract management and staffing support to prime contractor who provides language instructors, linguists, library and information operations support to the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Instructors teach Arabic, Pashto and ESL literary classes, as well as Art and Religious Studies to detainees. Library operations are full service – from check-out to circulation and redaction of sensitive content before distribution to detainees. Information operations support includes screening of all materials, including media, which enters or leaves the JTF base at GTMO.
U.S. Army at Fort Polk
Provided language instructors in support of Defense Language Institute on a contract with the U.S. Army at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Instructors taught beginner Arabic and Pashto language and Iraqi and Afghan cultural awareness to more than 50,000 troops deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan under Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons
Provided foreign language translation and transcription services in support of 106 federal prisons across the United States for the U.S. DoJ Bureau of Prisons. These were on-demand translations provided in more than 37 languages over the course of a five-year contract. The most frequent language translations provided were Spanish and Arabic to English document translations.
